6 Alternate Uses for Your Freezer

Eliminate unpopped popcorn
Don't you just hate the kernels of popcorn that are left at the bottom of the bowl? Eliminate the popcorn duds by keeping your unpopped supply in the freezer.

Remove wax from candlesticks
Grandma's heirloom silver candlesticks will get a new life if you place them in the freezer and then pick off the accumulated wax drippings. But don't do this if your candlesticks are made from more than one type of metal. The metals can expand and contract at different rates and damage the candlesticks.

Extend candle life
Place candles in the freezer for at least two hours before burning. They will last longer.

Unstick photos
Picture this: Water spills on a batch of photographs, causing them to stick together. If you pull them apart, your pictures will be ruined. Don't be so hasty. Stick them in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Then use a butter knife to gingerly separate the photos. If they don't come free, place them back in the freezer. This works for envelopes and stamps too.

Clean a pot
Your favorite pot has been left on the stove too long, and now you've got a burned-on mess to clean up. Place the pot in the freezer for a couple of hours. When the burned food becomes frozen, it will be easier to remove.

Remove odors
Got a musty-smelling book or a plastic container with a fish odor? Place them in the freezer overnight. By morning they'll be fresh again. This works with almost any other small item that has a bad smell you want to get rid of.

Holiday Money Saving Tips for Your Family

While families benefit from saving money all year, the holiday's are a time when saving money can mean much more to a family as spending less money means less stress on parents. And all parents know, the less stressed we are, the more fun our family is going to have. Here are useful holiday tips that will help you stress-less and enjoy more:

Be prepared for the holiday season. Set aside some time and use last year's amount spent to organize a current budget for all that you would like to do during the holidays. Include gift giving and your budgeted amount for each person you wish to give to. Remember to include the little gifts you give to teachers and for Pollyanna gift giving. Once you have your budget, You can see the areas where you may be able to save some money.

Talk with your extended family. Communication can go a long way when you need to tighten your belts. If you are finding yourself in a crunch this holiday season, talk to your family about ways that you can save some money like bringing down the limit amount you spend on gifts - or cutting store bought gifts out altogether.

Happiness for All

Happiness: Happiness is a wonderful emotion. Happiness is a soul, dancing with joy. When you feel happy, you achieve more. Here are some wise words about happiness.

There are people who sometimes experience a "low" for no reason whatsoever. I can buy that, provided we promise ourselves to get happy for no reason too. Here are some quotations that I would describe as "happy quotes."
Maya Angelou
A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.

William Arthur Ward
A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition.

Charlie Chaplin
A day without laughter is a day wasted.

Hugh Downs
A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.

Mother Teresa
A joyful heart is the inevitable result of a heart burning with love.

Washington Irving
A kind heart is a fountain of gladness, making everything in its vicinity freshen into smiles.

Victor Borge
A laugh is the shortest distance between two people.

William Shakespeare
A light heart lives long.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn
A man is happy so long as he chooses to be happy.

Unknown Author
A smile is a curved line that sets things straight.

Money Saving Tips: Buy Halloween Candy in Bulk and Share

You can save a ton by buying Halloween candy in bulk, but it usually means you have to give out the same type of candy and get stuck with the same type that sits around the house until you throw it away. One way around this is to partner up with a friend or neighbor and split the leftover candy, so you will have a variety that your family can enjoy.

Sexting:Teens Putting Sex and Texting Together

Sexting is:
Sexting is creating pictures or videos of sexual acts or nudity and texting it over cell phones. One resource I read called it 'the intersection of promiscuity and technology.' This is happening with and without a teen’s permission. A survey released in December by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy said about a third of teenage boys and a quarter of teen girls say they've seen nude or semi-nude images that were meant originally to be private.

Sexting is a crime, but:
At this point, authorities are trying to figure out what crime to charge teens with when caught up in a sexting situation. The crime itself, if committed by an adult, would be child pornography. That is a federal offense that doesn’t really cover the issue here.

A woman’s posture, gait and presence are noticeably (to everyone but the men who participated in the study, apparently) changed when she is wearing high heels. They make her legs look longer, highlight her behind and re-angle her torso. It also helps that the world has a collective shoe fetish, causing men and women to view the high heel as sexy and alluring. Wearing high heels is one thing women definitely do for the benefit of men, since they are usually not the most comfortable choice in footwear. A woman’s feet and wallet both suffer for the cause of great shoes.
Unlike men who can get away with rolling out of bed, throwing on some semi-clean clothes and doing a bit of minor grooming, women spend a ton of time and money on their appearance. Sure, they dress and groom in order to feel good about themselves, but the idea of being attractive to men is never far from their minds either. Unfortunately, a lady's efforts are too often overlooked by male admirers who may appreciate the look as a whole, but don't notice the little things that go into it.
A study released in the fall of 2010 by Northumbria University in Britain reinforces the idea that men are inattentive to these details by showing that men couldn’t see a difference in the way a woman walks when wearing heels or flats. Esquire seems to think North American men are more observant, retweeting The Huffington Post’s link to the article Men Don’t Notice When Women Wear High Heels, Study Says, adding, “Yes we do.”
If you want to really impress her, check out AskMen’s list of the Top 10: Things She Wants You To Notice, including things you should pay attention to about her appearance, behavior and efforts. Not all of them require a direct comment, but some kind of reaction is warranted to let her know you appreciate all the elements that make her a fabulous girlfriend.

10 Tips for Date Night

You know what you’re going to wear; you’ve been thinking about it during the day. You’re proud of yourself and think: “Wow, I’m on top of this, and I’ll be looking sharp in my white shirt.” Unfortunately, it was all talk (well, thought) and no action. Just 10 minutes before leaving you reach for that white shirt only to realize that it’s wrinkled and a tad stained. Now what? You’re not excited about the other options. Suddenly nothing else will cut it, oh, and watch as your stress level rises and self-image plummets.

This could have been avoided had you prepped your clothes the day before. Is that white shirt wrinkled? Iron it. Is it hopeless? Find an alternative. Do your shoes need a shining? You get the idea

7 Tips To Be Safe in Cars

1:Babies face backward.
Face babies backward in their car seats. And keep them that way for as long as possible up to the height or weight limit of the particular seat. At a minimum, keep infants rear-facing until the age of 1 and until they weigh at least 20 pounds.

2:Toddlers face forward.
Keep toddlers in forward-facing car seats until they reach the upper weight or height limit of the particular car-seat (usually around age 4 and 40 pounds).

3:Use a booster seat.
Keep young children in booster seats--in the back seat--until they are as old as 8 years or at least 4'9'' tall. One way to tell if they're positioned correctly in the booster is to look at the seat belt: It should fit with the lap belt laying across the upper thighs and the shoulder belt fitting easily across the chest.

4:Never leave children inside a parked car.
According to NHTSA, even cool outside temperatures in the 60s can cause the car's interior to hit 110 degrees Fahrenheit and higher. (The inside temperature can rise almost 20 degrees within the first 10 minutes.) If a child is inside the vehicle, they can quickly succumb to heatstroke and death.

5:Protect your pregnancy.
When pregnant, wear the seat belt low across the belly, with the center portion placed firmly along the breastbone. Contrary to some myths, it's always safer to wear a seat-belt, even when eight or nine months pregnant, than to not wear one for fear of crushing the unborn child in the event of a crash.

6:Prevent rollaways.
Engage your emergency brake every time you park. That way, even if a child should try to roll the car's automatic transmission out of park, the car won't budge. Keeping the vehicle locked at all times also helps prevent rollaway injuries.

7:Don't let children strangle in a seat belt.
Most seat belts lock when the belt is pulled all the way out from the retractor. This feature is designed for child seat installation, but it can also twist around children who get caught in the ties. To prevent this, do not let children lie down across the car seat, and buckle and tuck away all unused belts in the car.
